"The year 2020 has indeed experienced a shaking pandemic of the modern age. While all the concerned departments all over the world are religiously doing their duties to contain the spread of the infection, it was thought of to put forward a paper on the understanding of various graphs presented by the authorities from time to time which indicate the total number of cases, number of active cases, number of recoveries and number of deaths. This paper deals with the understanding of two main types of plots i.e. linear and logarithmic and shall highlight details of various functions and their trends. A phrase, Flattening the curve has been in use these days. This paper shall first build a premise and then explain the qualitative meaning of the phrase in the context of the plots. Various psychological aspects shall also be appended so that the reader can be benefitted and can be made ready to understand the current affairs.

Application of Exponential Gamma Distribution in Modeling Queuing Data

There are many events in daily life where a queue is formed. Queuing theory is the study of waiting lines and it is very crucial in analyzing the procedure of queuing in daily life of human being. Queuing theory applies not only in day to day life but also in sequence of computer programming, networks, medical field, banking sectors etc. Researchers have applied many statistical distributions in analyzing a queuing data. In this study, we apply a new distribution named Exponential Gamma distribution in fitting a data on waiting time of bank customers before service is been rendered. We compared the adequacy and performance of the results with other existing statistical distributions. The result shows that the Exponential Gamma distribution is adequate and also performed better than the existing distributions.

Growth and Significance of RMG Export in Total Export of Bangladesh
The Ready made garments RMG are the major source of export income for Bangladesh. This study is an attempt to measure the change, instability, significance of RMG export to total export and relationship between RMG export and total export of Bangladesh based on secondary data during the period FY1997 98 to FY2016 17 collected from Export Promotion Bureau. Different statistical tools have been used to perform the analysis. The analysis reveals that the RMG export and total export of Bangladesh has increased and total export fully depends on RMG export. The analysis also reveals that the RMG export and total export of Bangladesh are not stable during the study period but its increasing trend is good sign for Bangladesh. Therefore, researcher, policy makers and government should give proper attention to develop technology to increase production of ready made garments and develop new market to increase ready made garments export that raises the total export of Bangladesh.

Reliability Analysis of Identical unit System with Arbitrary Distribution Subject to Appearance Time of the Server

July 11, 2019 0
Reliability Analysis of Identical unit System with Arbitrary Distribution Subject to Appearance Time of the Server

In this research paper, we analyzed the reliability measures of two units identical system who's each unit has operative and complete failure modes. Repairing of the failed unit is done by a server who grabs some time to turn up at the system. Also, the server makes alternate of the failed unit by fresh ones whenever he is not capable to fix the failed unit in a pre precise time. The expressions for different consideration of vital signs have been derived using semi Markov process and RPT. Using arbitrary distributions to all random variable, some numerical results have been obtained to depict the behavior of MTSF, availability and profit with respect to the replacement rate.

Comparing Methods of Estimating Missing Values in One-Way Analysis of Variance

January 31, 2019 0
Comparing Methods of Estimating Missing Values in One-Way Analysis of Variance

It is obvious that the treatment of missing data has been an issue in statistics for some time now, and hence has started gaining the attention of researchers. This paper established the various methods usable in estimating missing values, determined which of the methods is the best in estimating missing values in one-way analysis of variance ANOVA , determined at which percentage level of Missingness is the method best and verified the effect of missing values on the statistical power and non-centrality parameters in one-way ANOVA. The methods examined are Pairwise Deletion PD , Mean Substitution MS , Regression Estimation RE , Multiple Imputation MI and Expectation Maximization EM . Mean Square Errors MSEs , that is variances of the methods were compared. It was found that MS had the least variance at 5, 10, 15, and 25 percent levels of Missingness while EM had the least variance at 20 percent Missingness level. PD method yielded the least statistical power at all the percentage levels of Missingness. Non-centrality parameters increased with increasing percentage level of Missingness and it was also found that at 25 percent level of Missingness after 20 percent , the statistical power started to reduce. EM method was recommended since MS yielded the least MSEs because of its limitations. Meanwhile PD should not be an option while dealing with missing data in one - way ANOVA due to loss of statistical power and possibly increased MSE.

Reliability Modeling and Analysis of a Parallel Unit System with Priority to Repair over Replacement Subject to Maximum Operation and Repair Times

July 12, 2018 0
Reliability Modeling and Analysis of a Parallel Unit System with Priority to Repair over Replacement Subject to Maximum Operation and Repair Times

This paper proposes the study of modelling and analysis of a two unit parallel system. A constant failure rate is considered for the units which are identical in nature. All repair activities like repair, replacement, preventive maintenance are mended immediately by a single server. The repair of the unit is done after its failure and if the fault is not rectified by the server within a given repair time, called maximum repair time, the unit replaced by new one. And, if there is no fault occurs up to a pre-fixed operation time, called maximum operation time, the unit undergoes for the preventive maintenance.

The unit works as new after all repair activities done by the server. Priority to repair of one unit is given over the replacement of the other one. All random variables are statistically independent. The distribution for the failure, preventive maintenance and replacement rates are negative exponential whereas the distribution for all repair activities are taken as arbitrary with different probability density functions. Semi-Markov and regenerative point techniques are used to derive some reliability measures in steady state. The variation of MTSF, availability and profit function has been observed graphically for various parameters and costs.

Analysis of Reliability Characteristic of a System

In this Paper, two system models are analyzed. The system have too dissimilar components working independently in parallel. In order to prolong the system operation preventive maintenance (inspection, minor repair) is provided in system at random epochs of time.

There are two repair facilities to repair the components. Failure of one component changes the life time parameter of the other component.

The failure times of the components are assumed to be exponentially distributed.
