Assessment of Adjustment, Decision Making Ability in Relation to Personality of Adolescents

Adolescence is a period of substantial changes. As a result, research on adolescent personality change has been on the rise in the last decade Klimstra, 2013 . Erikson 1968 describes adolescence as a developmental period of “assess the identity versus role confusion-. Adolescence is the critical transition period because adolescents become more independent and begin to consider the future in terms of relationships, families, careers, and their own identity. Adolescence is the period of maximum growth with regard to cognitive mental functioning. Intellectual powers like long term memory, logical thinking, abstract reasoning, problem solving, and decision making abilities are developed during their stage. Cognitive development takes place at a fast pace during adolescence. Education plays a major role in shaping adolescents’ life through their adjustment ability, decision making capacity. As a whole, the personality of a person develops in the desired manner in society. In the present investigation, an attempt is made to assess the adjustment, decision making ability in relation to the personality of adolescents. The survey method was used to assess the adjustment and decision making ability of college students in relation to their personalities.

Influence of Logical Mathematical Intelligence Intervention to Foster Active Learning Among the Elementary School Children

December 10, 2018 0
Influence of Logical Mathematical Intelligence Intervention to Foster Active Learning Among the Elementary School Children
Multiple Intelligences theory put forth by Howard Gardner 1983 is an innate faculty present in every individual in a unique combination. It is just not one form of intellect but eight different abilities, i.e., linguistic, logical, musical, kinesthetic, spatial, intrapersonal, interpersonal and naturalistic. The purpose of the present study was to find out the Influence of logical intelligence to foster active learning among the elementary school children. A self-structured Multiple Intelligences Inventory with 0.729 Cronbach's alpha and 0.638 split-half correlation and Active Learning scale with 0.896 Cronbach's alpha and 0.85 split-half correlation was administered to the respondents. The sample consists of 100 respondents of both gender studying in sixth standard, with 50 children for experimental group of Ramanashree Udaya Education Society and 50 for control group of Seshadripuram School.

The students were initially assessed using Multiple Intelligences Inventory and grouped based on their intelligences. A group which was dominant with logical mathematical intelligence was considered for the study. Social Science curriculum which the subject teacher expressed as a perceived difficult subject among the students was identified for intervention program. Hence the educational modules were developed in accordance with logical mathematical intelligence for social science curriculum. The results of the investigation revealed a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test scores of active learning, indicating that logical mathematical intelligence intervention had an influence on active learning among the children of experimental group. Whereas among the control group respondents the differences between the pre and post test scores was found to be non- significant. Hence identifying the dominant intelligence in the children and helping them to recognize their own potentials while imparting curriculum as well encouraging them to learn accordingly is very crucial.

Influence of Intervention Program to Foster Physical Resilience Among Adolescents

August 21, 2018 0
Influence of Intervention Program to Foster Physical Resilience Among Adolescents
Physical resilience refers to the body' capacity to adapt to arising challenges, maintain stamina and strength in the face of demands, (Gill Mathias 2 017). During adolescent period there is a sudden internal and external change in the body where most of the adolescents are unaware of these changes leading them towards a state of consciousness which in turn lead to stress and rebellious behaviours. Physical resilience is the ability of an adolescent to maintain a good body image by understanding the importance of nutrition and physical activity to overcome their bodily changes in a positive way. Kriemleretal (2016) States that Physical in activeness, low fitness and lack of awareness on nutrition in adolescents are raising health burdens worldwide.

Physical inactivity in adults has been established as one of the leading established risk factors for mortality and burden of disease. Moreover, a high fitness has been shown to prolong life and even seems to be able to counterbalance mortality. Therefore, the present study was taken up to assess the influence of an intervention program to nurture physical resilience skills of selected adolescents. A total of 100 adolescents in the age group of 13-16 years were identified for the study. A Self developed Physical Resilience "“ Subset of Adolescent Resilience scale was administered to assess the physical resilience skills. The adolescents were further divided into experimental and control groups having 50 participants in each group. The experimental group was exposed to an intervention programme for a period of six months to nurture Physical Resilience skills. The study concluded that, intervention programme was very effective in enhancing the Physical Resilience skills among adolescents.

Imparting Curriculum with Bodily / Kinesthetic Intelligence to Foster Active Learning Among the Elementary School Children

March 22, 2018 0
Imparting Curriculum with Bodily / Kinesthetic Intelligence to Foster Active Learning Among the Elementary School Children

Intelligence is an innate potential present in every individual, exploring and expressing it can be successful through the learning activities. Some learners prefer to learn through movement as well. They are indeed termed as kinesthetic learners or possess kinesthetic intelligence. The aim of the research article is to find out the influence of kinesthetic intelligence based intervention program on active learning classroom among the school-age children.

A self-structured Multiple Intelligences Inventory with 0.729 Cronbach's alpha and 0.638 split-half correlation and and Active Learning scale with 0.827 Cronbach's alpha and 0.921 split-half correlation was administered to the respondents. The sample consists of both boys and girls of sixth standard, where, 50 children for experimental group and 50 children for control group were selected for the study. Random sampling technique was utilized for the study.

The students were initially assessed and grouped based on their intelligences using Multiple Intelligences Inventory. Kinesthetic intelligence was found to be dominant among the sixth grade classroom. Hence, the educational modules were developed in accordance with kinesthetic intelligence for social science curriculum. The modules were introduced to the 50 respondents of experimental group.

The results revealed highly significant differences between the pre-test and post-test scores of the experimental group children indicating the kinesthetic intelligence intervention had an influence on active learning among the children of experimental group. Identifying the dominant intelligence in the children and helping them to recognize their own potentials and imparting teaching as well encouraging them to learn accordingly is very important.
