Comparative Effect of Aqueous Aloe Vera Extracts on Oxidative Stress in Alloxan Induced Diabetic Wistar Rats

Background The main pathophysiology of diabetes mellitus DM is oxidative stress, which is an imbalance between production of free radicals and antioxidant system in the body. Persistent hyperglycemia causes increased production of free radicals especially reactive oxygen species ROS , in tissues from glucose auto oxidation and protein glycosylation. Aim To investigate the comparative effect of Aloe vera gel, rind and a combination of gel and rind on the oxidative stress in alloxan induced diabetic rats. Materials and Methods 25 male wistar rats weighing between 220-260g were used for this study. They were divided into five groups A E of 5 rats each. Group A served as positive control group and received distilled water only. Group B was the negative diabetic group with no extract administration. Groups C, D and E were diabetic groups that received 300mg kg of Aloe vera rind, 300mg kg of Aloe vera gel and combination of 150mg kg of Aloe vera rind and 150 mg kg of Aloe vera gel respectively. Extract administration was done orally, once daily for 14 days. At the end of administration, oxidative stress biomarkers were assessed. Results There was significant decrease in SOD level in group B 9.87±0.20 when compared with the control 15.88±0.39 . Conversely, groups C 17.50±0.35 and D 17.94±0.22 showed significant increase when compared with the control. However, group E showed no significant change when compared with the control 15.88±0.39 . On the other hand, there was significant increase in SOD in control group A 15.88±0.39 and all the test groups when compared with group B 9.87±0.20 . Similarly, a significant increase in MDA was observed in group B 5.39±0.20 when compared with the control 4.15±0.21 . Groups C 3.62±0.20 and D 3.23±0.12 showed significant decrease when compared with control 4.15±0.21 . Furthermore, group E 4.14±0.26 showed no significant difference when compared with the control 4.15± 0.2 . On the other hand, groups A and all the test groups showed significant decrease in MDA when compared with group B 5.39±0.20 . Conclusion Aloe vera gel and Aloe vera rind extracts singly appeared more potent in reducing oxidative stress in diabetic rats when compared to combined extracts of Aloe vera rind gel at lower doses.

Zoonoses pandemics and the Urgency of a “Zooimmunocament”

February 18, 2021 0
Zoonoses pandemics and the Urgency of a “Zooimmunocament”

The recurrence of animal to man pathologies and its lethality has motivated our inquiry into a rethink of our relationship with fauna species. Mindful of the lethality of zoonoses, the duration to develop vaccines for the prevention of zoonoses, the inevitable interaction of fauna and humans, the fragile nature of the human immune system to fight zoonoses, this paper proposes a “zooimmunocament” which humanity needs to borrow the genetic and immunologic ingredients from the fauna species where they don’t develop a malady and used for his therapy. This therapy is far from vaccines. Humanity thanks to his evolutionary advancement in intelligence can control and make use of the fauna immune system for the fight against zoonotic zoonoses pathologies. Since those pathogens in fauna species do not cause harm, humanity can exploit the set up of their defense system for a possible therapy thus the appellation zooimmunocament.

Environmental Awareness Reflected in the Yājñavalkya Saṁhitā

February 15, 2021 0
Environmental Awareness Reflected in the Yājñavalkya Saṁhitā

A new branch of ethics named Environmental Ethics’ has emerged recently, but a search of ancient Indian literature reveals that environmental awareness was widespread in ancient Indian human society and that people at the time thought about it. However, due to the low level of environmental pollution at that time no sm tisastrakaras has expressed any thought about the environment like the thinkers in the modern environment, but it cannot be said that ancient India was not aware of the protection of the natural environment at all because ancient India thought of environment in its own way. The name of Yajñavalkya Sa hita is especially significant as Sm tishastra. Like Manu, Yajñavalkya is also known as a philosopher and spiritual guru. Although the various social and state provisions are the subjects of discussion in the Yajñavalkya Sa hita. The statements he makes about the environment in the context of the various social issues are not insignificant. In this article, I want to draw the attention about the reflection of all these thoughts in Maharshis discussion.

The Church and the State A Critical Reading of John Locke’s Theologico Political Thought

December 13, 2020 0
The Church and the State A Critical Reading of John Locke’s Theologico Political Thought

This paper examines the clear cut separation and distinction of the role and business of the church and the state. Social disorder, wars and conflicts of diverse natures have always resulted from the inefficient link between the church and the state. My focus in this paper is to justify that, without the establishment of a real boundary between the church and the state, there can be no certain end to the controversies that will be always arising. This principle of separation is geared toward the secularization of politics, as a means of putting the different sectors of the society in their right positions, by emphasizing on the fact that, the affairs of heaven do not have any business with those of the earth and restricting the temptation of power abuse by either the church or the state or both. I emphatically portray that, the church must be separated from the state exactly and absolutely because it is considered as the first method to resolve the different problems related to the misuse of power that usually occur within the society. I further admit that, the church is mainly concerned about the interests of men’s souls which involve exercising purity, God worship, living a holy and decent life, aimed at acquiring the salvation of individual souls. Finally, I conclude that, the aspiration of the state is outward, external or public and centered on the commonwealth, geared toward the procuring, preserving and advancing of civil interests which include life, liberty, indolence of the body, and the possession of outward things, such as money, land, houses, furniture.

Nature and Human Domination

September 25, 2020 0
Nature and Human Domination

In this paper, I contend that non human animals are being subjected to torture and cruel experimentations by humans which are ongoing for centuries. This attitude which is ingrained in the thoughts of humanity is extended to other creatures in nature beginning with mankind and the non human world. Several endangered species are getting extinct in various ecological niches in an alarming rate. The pre colonial outlook of Africa did not experience these rapid ecological crises until the influence of phenomena such as colonization and globalization emanating from the Western culture. I argue that African countries have created a lot of ecological imbalances in their environment in an attempt to‘develop’. Also, factors like poverty and ignorance are germane in prompting Africans to over exploit and destroy their environment. Furthermore, in this paper I suggest that, Africans have to adopt an indigenous and Eco bio communitarian perspective to development based on effective African spirituality whereby man and nature commune together. Children must be thought African values from the primary to the university levels. This will enable them know that for human existence to be fruitful, there must be an interdependent relationship between man and nature.

Quine and the Abortive Scientific Revival of Metaphysics

August 05, 2020 0
Quine and the Abortive Scientific Revival of Metaphysics

A critical analysis of Quine metaphysics leads to the idea that nothing exist independent of natural sciences. This obliges us into the question can metaphysics be reduced to a natural science To tackle this question Quine dismantles First Philosophy by considering it as prior philosophy which is meaningless in the context of natural sciences. Affirmatively, he adopts naturalism whose locus is science. In line with this, he revived metaphysics from its speculative or abstract nature to a discipline that is continuous with natural sciences. This is attained through the pragmatic value of metaphysics. That is, via its application in the scientific processes. But in the final analysis metaphysics cannot be accommodated by natural sciences because it would be the loss of its essence of speculation and abstraction. The abortive revival of metaphysics is also explained by the fact natural sciences have a common denominator which is the scientific method and metaphysics is not structure on this method.

Philosophy of Numerical Symbolism in World’s Cultures

August 05, 2020 0
Philosophy of Numerical Symbolism in World’s Cultures

Understanding symbolic consciousness as a specific way of knowing reality, the semantic center of which is a symbol, suggests the possibility of representing global meanings in a symbolic form. In the absence of sufficient scientific knowledge, a person by nature inclined to symbolization, in the process of cognition creates a special way of mastering this world symbolic, which, reflecting the most essential relations of the surrounding reality, provides him with the key to understanding the ontology of the world. The idea of number, considered, in the words of G. Biedermann, as the“ arche ” originals and essences of all things, as a dominant and uncreated connection and the basis of the eternal stability of the intra world order of things1.

Emerging Organizations Follow Dr. Deming’s Philosophy

Emerging Organizations Follow Dr. Deming’s Philosophy

One of the major reason for the long term success of organisations is their belief in the combined structure which consists of vision, mission, values, core competencies and their business system. It guides, directs, strengthens, and motivates them. It gives them security, strength, and awareness of their capabilities, as well as tools to help them to continuously change and improve.Statement of the Problem The philosophy that Dr. Deming stated year’s back was in form of 14 points. There are various strategies adopted by various organisations these which have allowed them to sustain their competitive positions. Are these strategies based on Dr. Deming’s Philosophy or the basis is something else Objectives –The major aim of the paper is to study an organisation which has sustained for more than 100 years and to find out which practices enabled it’s sustenance. The other aim is to find out whether the practices the organisation used for it’s sustenance has their roots in Dr. Deming’s philosophy.Methodology One organisation was picked which has sustained for more than 100 years .The organisation which was selected is a multinational corporate organisation as it has it’s presence in many industries belonging to different sectors in various nations .The non random sampling method convenience sampling was used as the organisation selected was convenient to study. The research design is exploratory and descriptive as it is based on secondary data analysis and observations. The limitation of the study is that only one location of one organisation was studied assuming that the organisation has a uniform culture and uniform practices across all locations and at all times.Analysis –The day to day practices at the organisation were studied and correlations with Dr. Demings Philosophy were found.Findings – When the combined structure which consists of vision, mission, values, core competencies and their business system of the selected organisation was penetrated, it was found that the organisation focuses on 1. Continuous improvement of processes 2. Elimination of management by objective 3.optimising team efforts 4. Learning with better supervision 5.awareness about quality and statistical methods encouraging education 6.removing barriers of workmanship7. Creating trust 8.driving out fear. These focal points were responsible for the sustenance of the organisation and it’s leadership in the market and these focal points are nothing but

An Analysis of Zeno's View Regarding Motion

January 01, 2019 0
An Analysis of Zeno's View Regarding Motion
Zeno of Elea about 489 BC, is the favorite disciple of Parmenides about 514 BC. Zeno devotes himself in refuting the views of the opponents of Parmenides. Arguments against the possibility of motion, is first found in The Dialectic of Zeno. To examine the reality of motion, it is necessary to make a new look towards Zeno's reaction on motion. The ancient Greek philosophers are confused to think about space, time and motion. Zeno is the first who deeply thinks about these.

His arguments, generally known as his paradoxes, seem to show that motion is simply an illusion which is not possible in any circumstances. Arguments of Zeno are based upon the argument which may be called the antinomy, i.e., a proof that since two contradictory propositions equally follows from a given assumption that must be false of infinite divisibility. But in our times, we know that the fallacies of his proofs, the confusion of the infinite divisibility of space and time with infinite dividedness, he does not notice himself.

He argues from the geometrical line to the actual line. Indeed, a geometrical point has no magnitude and a geometrical line is infinitely divisible. But in everyday life the movement between any distance, is not infinitely divisible, nor any observed time which we live through as short or long, is infinitely divisible into moments. Zeno confused an analytic proposition with a synthetic proposition. An analytic proposition does not require any observation to confirm or dis confirm its truth while a synthetic proposition can be true if it corresponds to an actual state of affairs.

A distance or time is infinitely divisible, is only an analytic proposition but actual distance traversed in same observed time is not infinitely divisible. Without motion our usual life would be stopped. Sun, moon, stars, planets and other stars cannot move without motion. If motion is not accepted then astronomy would be in vein. Even we cannot speak and write without the movement of our vocabulary organs and that of fingers respectively. So, the existence of motion has to accept in usual life, in scientific research and in all other aspects of life.

Nàgàrjunas Reflection on Motion and Rest

October 01, 2018 0
Nàgàrjunas Reflection on Motion and Rest

Nagarjuna C.150 - C.250 is considered to be one of the most famous thinkers of Indian Mahayana Buddhism, specially, in the Tibetan tradition and referred to as The Second Buddha. Nagarjuna categorically repudiates the reality of motion as well as rest. He is known as the founder of the Madhyamika school of Buddhist thought, the school of the middle way. The middle way avoids both the extremes of eternalism as well as of nihilism. The main theory of Madhyamika is the doctrine of emptiness or 'sunyata' which shows that all phenomena lack a permanent, unchanging and independent self-existence. Phenomena possess a conventional existence in which they appear to have a self-nature, although in reality they do not.

This teaching is also found in the Four Noble Truths of Buddha. Just like all other Hindu philosophical schools, according to Buddha too, all sentient beings live in an infinite cycle of suffering which is caused by their ignorance concerning the true nature of phenomena. Beings do not realize the emptiness both of things as well as of mental phenomena and adopt attitudes of like and dislike, which creates the process of suffering. But it can be stopped if the appearance of phenomena and their true nature is realized. In Mulamadhyamakakarika, Nagarjuna tries to provide a philosophical rationale for the notion of emptiness, which is the key term in the Prajñaparamita Sutras, the earlier Mahayana literature. For Nagarjuna, Motion cannot be comprehended as identical with the mover for the mover and its activity motion cannot be distinguished then.

If we have the conception of an inherent identity of the agent and its activity, the agent cannot really change its activity. A mover is identified with reference to motion and therefore, it would be a contradiction to say motion with mover. Again, 'motion without mover' also, is not accepted, if it is accepted, then, motion would be absolutely different from the mover. He argues that the mover cannot be motionless in himself apart from the motion, as it is a contradiction to say a mover without motion. It is also impossible to say that it has a motion other than the motion which inheres in it, because it implies two motions, for it is a mover that moves. Therefore, it is difficult to explain whether the mover can be understood with or without the motion.

But without motion our usual life would be stopped.

Karma: A Concept or A Precept
Really! Lord' creation is amazing. Isn"™t it? The creations includes both Jivas and Ajivas . Jivas are those living beings which have Pr??a inherently present in them. Ajivas are those beings which have no Pr??a. Jivas are classified as animals, insects, bees, birds etc. But out of them Humans is the most auspicious creation of God. All others Jivas are backed by instincts except humans.

For example- sometimes we see in road, sheep are gathered in one place, but if one of them goes one side, all other sheep shall follow them. They have no thinking capacity. But Man is guided by reason. He ought the thinking capacity to what to do or what ought not to do. Because he give emphasised on reason to do specific action. So, action has the meaning only in respect of human. Action is required to develop one' social, economical, psychological, political, logical needs.

Action is needed in every field of life to live and maintain perfect harmony with yourself as well as others. Here, attempts have been made to discover the three issues of this paper: first, the relation of karma with past, present and future. Secondly. the meaning of karma in human life. thirdly, the justification of action in society. However this paper tries to unveil the necessity of action in relation to man and society.
