Automatic Regulation and Monitoring of CPM Machine

November 19, 2020 0
Automatic Regulation and Monitoring of CPM Machine

The aim of this project is empowered by adding independency to the individuals during Continuous Passive Motion. In this project, a Continuous Passive Motion CPM Machine is designed that will enable the patient to move their leg continuously. This project is for measuring the muscle oxygen of the patient who is using CPM and to control the motion. The oxygen level is measured by using the Near Infrared spectroscopic principle and is attached as a device to the patient and it continuously monitors the oxygen level. This is performed after surgeries like total knee replacement and anterior circulate ligament reconstruction. Patient who has undergone these surgeries must be treated with CPM machine. But the machine could not identify the tearing of the muscles during the procedure and this could lead to post surgical trauma. To prevent these damages to the muscles NIRS is attached to this mechanism. It detects the oxy hemoglobin level in the tissues and stops the machine when the muscle oxygen reaches the threshold value 90 mmHg . The potentiometer is used to vary the oxygen level manually since the oxygen level below the threshold cannot be measured practically. The machine continuously works when the oxygen level is above the threshold. Moreover, ESP8266 module is used to monitor the oxygen level continuously and the data is stored in the cloud for future references.

Modulation of Neural Cross Frequency Coupling analysis in VLSI Architecture

July 31, 2020 0
Modulation of Neural Cross Frequency Coupling analysis in VLSI Architecture

Cross frequency coupling CFC is a key mechanism in neuronal computation, communication, and learning in the brain. Abnormal CFC has been implicated in pathological brain states such as epilepsy and Parkinson’s disease. A reduction in excessive coupling has been shown ineffective neuromodulation treatments, suggesting that CFC may be a useful feedback measure in closed loop neural stimulation devices. However, processing latency limits the responsiveness of such systems. VLSI architecture is presented which implements the phase locking value of CFC to enable the application specific trade off between low latency and high accuracy processing.

Linearity of Feature Extraction Techniques for Medical Images by using Scale Invariant Feature Transform

March 12, 2020 0
Linearity of Feature Extraction Techniques for Medical Images by using Scale Invariant Feature Transform

In Machine Learning, Pattern Recognition and in the field of image processing, Feature Extraction starts from an initial set of the measured data. Builds derived values are intended to be informative and non redundant, facilating the subsequent learning and in some cases leading to the better human interpretations. Feature Extraction is a dimensionally reduction process, where an initial set of raw variables has been reduced to more manageable groups. Many data analysis software packages provide for feature extraction and for dimension reduction. Determining a subset of the initial features is also known as feature extraction. Common Numerical programming environments are MATLAB, SciLab, NumPy, etc.

Review:Wavelet transform based electroencephalogram methods

In this paper, EEG signals are the signatures of neural activities. There have been many algorithms developed so far for processing EEG signals. The analysis of brain waves plays an important role in diagnosis of different brain disorders. Brain is made up of billions of brain cells called neurons, which use electricity to communicate with each other.

The combination of millions of neurons sending signals at once produces an enormous amount of electrical activity in the brain, which can be detected using sensitive medical equipment such as an EEG which measures electrical levels over areas of the scalp. The electroencephalogram (EEG) recording is a useful tool for studying the functional state of the brain and for diagnosing certain disorders.

The combination of electrical activity of the brain is commonly called a Brainwave pattern because of its wave-like nature. EEG signals are low voltage signals that are contaminated by various types of noises that are also called as artifacts. Statistical method for removing artifacts from EEG recordings through wavelet transform without considering SNR calculation is proposed

Review: Denoising and Compression Methods

In this paper, Image recognition is the process of identifying and detecting an object or a feature in a digital image or video. Feature extraction a type of dimensionality reduction that efficiently represents interesting parts of an image as a compact feature vector. A computer revolution has occurred not only in engineering field but also in Medical field, where vast amount of information must be processed very quickly and accurately.

High resolution scanning techniques such as digital radiography, tomography, nuclear magnetic resonance, produces an image containing relevant information for medical analysis. The use of computers for handling image data in the healthcare is growing. The amount data produced by modern image generating techniques, such as Computed Tomography (CT) and Magnetic Resonance (MR), is vast.

This huge data might be a problem from a storage point of view or when the data is sent over a network. To overcome such problems data compression techniques are needed.
