The Odisha Official Language Act and Language Movement in 21st Century Ad

April 17, 2020 0
The Odisha Official Language Act and Language Movement in 21st Century Ad
The Odia language, since its inception has played a significant role in establishing the uniqueness of the people of Odisha. In the 12th century AD Chodagangadev of Eastern Ganga family has established “Sakalatkola” and made the Odia language the dominant speech in this land. In 15th century AD the great pioneer of Odia Identity ‘Kapilendradev’ used the word ‘Odisha’ and introduced ‘Odia’ as the Official Language in his empire. After 1568 this community has lost the hard earned Identity and this was again restored in 1936 with the creation of Odisha state on Language basis. After introduction of Indian Constitution in 1950 the provision in Art.345 351 resulted in the “The Orissa Official language Act, 1954”. Though we got the Act for the use of Odia Language in all official purposes of Odisha still we are thousand miles behind the achievement of ‘Kapilendradev’ in 15th Century AD. Now in the 21st Century after 71 years of the establishment of democracy in India, ‘Black Flag march’ have been organising in the banner of ‘Bhasa Andolan’every day since 13 04 2016 till date. After amendment and official notifications it is still to be implemented in the real term of the above Act in Odisha..In this paper emphasis is given on the attempts made to implement the above Act the successes and failures, stumbling blocks on path necessity of the use of Odia Language in administration and the relevance of present day Odia Language Movement in Odisha. The study is qualitative and descriptive in nature basing upon secondary data.

and to the west by the state Chhattisgarh. The languages used by the neighboring states have a lot of influence on Odia language. In this present study a modest attempt has been made to high light the differences between Standard Odia and Western Odia dialects. Various linguistic items used by the western Odia dialect users have marked differences compared to the standard Odia. The study has been done to delve into the phonological, morphological, semantic and syntactic features of both Standard Odia and Western Odia. Secondly, for ease of understanding some amount of discussion has been made on the existing literature on language and its variety in general. Manoj Das An Incredible Bridge between Literature and Philosophy

May 16, 2019 0
Manoj Das An Incredible Bridge between Literature and Philosophy

Attempts have been taken here to unveil the versatile virtuosity and artistry of Manoj Das especially in his literary attempts which walk with an incredible alliance with philosophy underneath the literary vesture. Apart from philosophical facet another significant dimension of his literature is ˜psychology', which has well been analyzed here in this article. His c onsciousness about history, psychology and philosophy makes his literature more special. Special care has been taken in order to unveil his art of arresting the attention of readers while reading his text and afterward. Manoj Das' literature is more refined and alert due to his second persona. It has been demonstrated here with some concrete proofs. He is simply a magician in telling tales. He discovers diamond in dust, life in lifeless and cultural consciousness in the thalli of inorganic and organic objects. Another major aspect of his literary approach is the psychological dimension which covers the psychology of the involved character as well as of the readers. In short, his writings have that much potency to arrest the attention of the readers of his story. Another thing with regard to this phenomenon is his ability to convince and kidnap the readers' mind magically with his literary style and approach. Shri Das is culturally, socially, aesthetically, politically, philosophically, psychologically, historically and above all from the humanitarian viewpoint a conspicuously conscious story teller of the time.

Language in Glocal Cultural Context

April 06, 2019 0
Language in Glocal Cultural Context

The Paper tries to unveil the vital actions and counteractions of language and culture upon each other. A language neither can originate nor live without the culture. Language and culture, thus, are inseparable. Language rolls on the concrete

passage of time encountering many alike and opposite processes like a culture, de cultures and re culture and gathers moss. Particularly, in post colonial context Odia language encounters some radical changes and reaps new products with respect to words, morphology, prefixes, suffixes and many more things. In post colonial context, we encounter a special kind of language called ‘hybrid language' or ‘glocal language'. The paper emphasizes the dimensions of language change with a global perspective as well as with local perspectives.

How Camus has his deals with the philosophy of absurd and the concept of suicide- are well analysed in order to find a better alternative to live the life. For the scribblers like Camus and Kafka '˜Suicide' is a major issue for the human existence. Socio-economic Dimensions, Issues and Implications of Post-Independence Odisha and its Manifestation in Odia Poetry with a Special Case Study of Guruprasad Mohanty's Kaalapurusha
The paper tries to unveil the truths beneath the texts of Post-Independence Odia poetry especially of the text Kaalapurusha, a long committed poem by Guruprasad Mohanty. Various poets are there in this phase those who are really serious and vigilant to the economic condition and its implications on the society and the life style of the people.

It is quite clear from the national and state level investigations and various studies that literature of this period is really affected by the economic conditions. The characters of the poem or of the different novels and the stories behave and react like this because of this thing only. The common socio-economic mentality has been changed to this.

The characters of the poem Kaalapurusha or any other characters are simply the representatives of the same period.
