A Study on Customer Perception of Electric Vehicle and Its Impact on Traditional Supply Chain in India
India traditionally has been belligerent to any changes. But with the need to curb environmental emissions it has been identified that there is a need to switch from ICE vehicles to Electric Vehicles. This switch is eminent and a necessity in order to fight the climatic and environmental changes which is affecting all living life whether in land, water or air. It is a fact that with substantial shift in the automobile industry towards Electric Vehicles disruption in the automobile supply Chain in imminent. It is true that for those suppliers who are heavily leveraged and unable to adapt it could spell a disastrous financial troubles ahead. This study is an attempt to identify how production and supply of electric vehicles will impact the traditional supply chain in India and suggest ways and methods to incorporate the changes. An attempt has also been made in this study to identify the perception of individuals regarding Electric Vehicle. Because it is the people's choice which will lead to boon or bane for this segment of automobiles.

Thermal Analysis of Engine Block

August 19, 2020 0
Thermal Analysis of Engine Block

Several automobile industries are working on it to maintain a proper temperature for increasing the efficiency and also to prevent the engine from thermal damage. So it become important to analyse fins structure for better heat transfer rate. High temperature on the surface of engine block effect the efficiency of engine. Increasing number of fins is not only the criteria to increase the heat dissipation from the surface of fins. Generally, rectangular fins are used in motor bike engine, although the temperature at the surface is in safe limit. By introducing new geometry of fin and if the minimum temperature of new geometry is less than or near about the minimum temperature of rectangular fin is not only help in increasing the efficiency of engine block but also it may help in reducing the weight of engine block. Convective heat transfer is the mechanism of heat transfer and it depends on convective heat transfer coefficient and Contact surface area with air. Fins are surfaces that extend from an object to increase the rate of heat transfer to or from the environment by increasing convection. And the analysis is done by numerical method and on Solid Works software.

Overview of Disc Brake

June 10, 2020 0
Overview of Disc Brake

A disc brake is a type of brake that uses the calipers to squeeze pairs of pads against a disc or rotor to create friction. This action slows the rotation of a shaft, such as a vehicle axle, either to reduce its rotational speed or to hold it stationary. The energy of motion is converted into waste heat which must be dispersed. Disc brake system is widely used on front wheels in mid range two wheeler such as - commuter and sports bikes. The Disc brake system is used on the front wheels of most hatchback cars, entry level sedans and MUVs whereas, it is also widely used on both front and rear wheels of high end cars and SUVs in combination with hydraulic vacuum brake actuating systems.

Review Paper on New Automotive Camless Engine

Internal combustion engine occupies a significant spot in present day. with the most recent plan alteration in different part being advanced to improve the efficiency and generally speaking performance, one segment has been kept untouched that is camshaft. Cam control the breathing channels of the engine that is the planning of valves through which fuel air mixture enters and fumes is driven out. with help of push rods , rocker arms, stiff springs. With increasing performance demands engine specialists and researchers over the world are perusing radical cam less structure which promises to give ICEs a greater improvement in effectiveness. The fantasy about accomplishing cam less technology is shutting reality at rapid rate. With cam less technology put into practice, the engine power can be improved, pollutant emissions could be controlled and better mileage is acquired, in addition to that the whole mechanism of pulley or belt drive is replaced by the camless engine with greater efficiency than earlier i.e intake and exhaust of the IC engine by camless actuation technology with the camless engine variable valve timing also controls the intake and exhaust gas recirculation. Its one of the major advantage is it offers continously variable and independent control of all types of motion.

Production and Characterization of Biodiesel Fuel Derived from Neem Azadirachta Indica Seed using Two Cylinder Diesel Engine Model

As the decreasing availability of the fossil fuel is rising day by day, the search for alternate fuel that can be used as a substitute to the conventional fuels is rising rapidly. A new type of biofuel, Neem oil biodiesel, is introduced in this work for the purpose of fuelling diesel engine. Neem oil was extracted from neem seed by solvent extraction method and biodiesel was produced by transesterification method. The percentage yield of Neem oil and biodiesel were found to be 40 and 75 respectively. The properties were simulated in a model produced using GT power suite. The engine speed was varied and engine performance such as brake power, brake specific fuel consumption, brake mean effective pressure and the emission of biodiesel and petroleum diesel at various speed were determined and compared. The results show the improve performance of biodiesel. The performance characteristics of an engine were studied with biodiesel and petro diesel. The brake power 31.25 kW, brake torque 102.8 N mare found higher at 3600 rpm case 1 and 1200 rpm case 4 respectively. In biodiesel, specific fuel consumption is found more than the petro diesel and the CO and CO2 emission were found lower in biodiesel than petro diesel. The biodiesel have shown better performance than the petro diesel.

An Autonomous UAV for Pesticide Spraying

March 29, 2019 0
An Autonomous UAV for Pesticide Spraying

The use of pesticides in agriculture is essential to maintain the quality of large scale production. The spraying of these products by using aircraft speeds up the process and prevents compacting of the soil. However, adverse weather conditions e.g. the speed and direction of the wind can impair the effectiveness of the spraying of pesticides in a target crop field. Thus, there is a risk that the pesticide can drift to neighboring crop fields. It is believed that a large amount of all the pesticide used in the world drifts outside of the target crop field and only a small amount is effective in controlling pests. However, with increased precision in the spraying, it is possible to reduce the amount of pesticide used and improve the quality of agricultural products as well as mitigate the risk of environmental damage. In the past several years, UAV has been extensively used in agriculture. However, the efficiency is still not as high as desired and the phenomenon of pesticide pollution is still existing. This is mainly because of the following two problems 1 the autonomy of most existing UAV system is still very limited. Actually, most of them are still operated through remote controlling. 2 the UAVs operating precision is not high enough due to the low accuracy flight control near the plants. The paper presents combination of new approaches and technologies in modern day agriculture. Perspectives and benefits of usage of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles in different spheres of agriculture considered on the base of spraying drone project called “AeroDrone”.

Modelling and Simulation of Some Combustion Parameters Intport-1 and Intvalve-1 using Gt-Power Engine Simulation Software with Biodiesel-Ethanol-Diesel Blends as Fuel

December 26, 2018 0
Modelling and Simulation of Some Combustion Parameters Intport-1 and Intvalve-1 using Gt-Power Engine Simulation Software with Biodiesel-Ethanol-Diesel Blends as Fuel
Biodiesel-Ethanol-Diesel blends are believed to be able to improve the combustion characteristics since biodiesel, ethanol, and diesel have different fuel characteristics. A model was developed using GT-POWER, an engine cycle simulation for a biodiesel-ethanol-diesel BED fueled direct injection compression ignition engine corresponding to a 4.5 liter, TecQuipment TD115 MK-II single-cylinder diesel engine was used. At selected operating conditions, Intport-1 and Intvalve-1combustion parameters of the engine at constant load of 1000 g at various speeds of 1760 rpm, 1840 rpm, 1920 rpm, 2000 rpm and 2080 rpm were investigated. Results of the static pressure in Intport-1 for BED30 were compared with those obtained with the diesel and found to have the same trends for all the speed conditions, there was a significant pressure drop to less than 2.40 bar within the compression region and rises up above 2.40 bar before the power stroke region.

The power and exhaust regions maintained the same trends of pressure fluctuations for both the diesel and BED30. Results of mass flow rate for the same Intport-1 show a steady increase of the maximum mass flow rate with speed, showing the lowest value of 0.18 kg s for BED30 and 0.17 kg s for diesel at 1760 rpm. The results of the average sub volume velocity centroid and diesel in Intport-1 for all speeds followed the same trend with the mass flow rate, but with smoother path at power and exhaust strokes. At the intake region the movement of the charges rise up for all the speed conditions, and reached a peak value of 56.8 m s at 1760 rpm, 59.1 m s at 1840 rpm, 62.7 m s at 1920 rpm, 64.0 m s at 2000 rpm and 71.1 m s at 2080 rpm. The Mass flow rate at the intvalve-1 results showed that at all the speed conditions, the maximum value of lift was at 2600 BDC. Simulated pressure diagram and heat release curves for all speed conditions obtained with BED30 showed good agreement with the results obtained with diesel.

Non Linear Analysis of Diesel Engine Connecting Rod

the connecting rod is the mediator member between the piston and the Connecting Rod. Its primary function is to transmit the push and pull from the piston pin to the crank pin and thus convert the reciprocating motion of the piston into rotary motion of the crank.

For piston pin there will be tiny end is fix, it will used mostly to press fit into the connecting rod but it can swivel in the piston, a floating wrist pin design. Presently connecting rod is manufacturing by using the material Carbon steel.

In this project, connecting rod is designed using Aluminum alloys 7475 and 6061. The aim of this project is to design the connecting rod for 150cc engine motorbike by using Design formulas for the above materials. By using catia software we can draw the 3Dmodel of the connecting rod as per the parameters. All the required data is collected from design data books, internet and journals. Vytla

Review Paper on Improved Exhaust Emission Control
In the present time, the automobiles running on the roads have drastically increased in number due to the advancement in the sector with low cost to offer to the people. Though this has made the life sophisticated as well as has made our life easier in terms of travelling and transportation, this has dragged us towards a major issue regarding the pollution it causes to the atmosphere.

The compression ignition engine that are used in the vehicles produces a large amount of obnoxious gases like NOX, HC, CO, etc. The existing catalytic converter that is used in order to convert this harmful gases are not meeting the demands of euro 6 emission standards as well as they are inadequate to work in very high temperature. In order overcome this issue and make the system more efficient, the existing catalytic converter's ceramic structure can be modified by applying a wash coat of Cu-Zeolite catalyst to it which results in lower NOX emission even at high exhaust temperature.

Hydro-Pneumatic Suspension with Intelligent Active Suspensioning System

March 06, 2018 0
Hydro-Pneumatic Suspension with Intelligent Active Suspensioning System

A shock absorber is a mechanical device designed to smooth out or damp a sudden shock impulse and dissipate kinetic energy. Without shock absorbers, the vehicle would have a bouncing ride, as energy is stored in the spring and then released to the vehicle, possibly exceeding the allowed range of suspension movement, Control of excessive suspension movement without shock absorption requires stiffer springs, which would in turn give a harsh ride.

Shock absorbers allow the use of soft springs while controlling the rate of suspension movement in response to bumps. Now the project has mainly concentrated in designing a suitable suspension unit. The limit sensor is fixed to the front wheel. When the front wheel is in bounce, the limit sensor activates the pneumatic compressor automatically with the help of electronic control unit.

Now the compressor starts running, activating the hydro pneumatic suspensor which is fitted in the back wheel. In a vehicle it reduces the effect of suspension travel on uneven terrains. Hydraulic system undergo torque multiplication in an easy way, independent of distance between input and output. Pneumatic system is based on the fact that gas is compressible so equipment is less subjected to shock loads.

Design and Analysis of Air Intake System for Single Cylinder Engine

January 06, 2018 0
Design and Analysis of Air Intake System for Single Cylinder Engine
Our understanding of Air flow behavior around an object makes us better designer in order to achieve better performances from our automobiles. In this paper we present an analysis of air flow via air-intake system required to meet FSAE norms in SUPRA Vehicles. The aim of this project is to create a flow restriction device to be fitted in the SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) car being built by Team Zenith, GB Pant Engineering College, New Delhi.

The car is an open wheeled race vehicle, designed to go from 0-60 mph in under 4 seconds and have a top speed of about 80-90 mph.An Air-intake system in a FSAE SUPRA Vehicle consists of various components as followed: -1) Air Filter2) Air Restrictor3) Plenum4) Intake Manifold.Air enters at the filter and passes through restrictor, which is used to increase velocity and drop pressure and then enters into plenum which is used to provide better distribution of air flow and to prevent further drop in pressure.

Design of Air restrictor is critical as per norms of FSAE due to fixed minimum neck diameter of 20 mm as demonstrated below. Fig: - Basic structure of restrictor, plenum and runnerThis is done primarily to limit the power capability from the engine. Since the maximum mass flow rate is now a fixed parameter because of the restrictor, the aim is to allow the engine to achieve the maximum mass flow with minimal pull from the engine.

In short, the pressure difference between atmosphere and the pressure created in the cylinder should be minimal, so that maximum airflow into the engine at all times. Our study revolves around finding such combination of angles of inclination and rise of the restrictor which should provide the vehicle maximum performance within limits directed by FSAE.We have simulated various design of Air restrictors based on different pair of angles for the Air-restrictor that could make a significant impact in the performance of the engine. The software we used for the same are ANSYS, SolidWorks.

pH Control in Effluent Treatment Plant using PLC
In this paper, A few automated processes for a partial automation which can be mostly used in residential areas and industries. It is developed using PLC. It has explained the process of ETP in industries. The process include different parameters like flow, level, pH, DC motor, solenoid valves, pump are controlled by using PLC (Allen Bradley Micrologix 820) and simulated by using software CCW (Connected Component Workbench) .

As we know that effluents emitted by industries contains harmful chemicals which could lead to effect on environment and society. So by retreating these effluents could be a blessing in disguise. This process can't be going through using manual process so here we need some automotive tools for that.

That is why we make use of PLC (programmable logic controller). PLC is recommended instead of other automation devices because of its versatility, robustness, reprogrammable nature and many other significant features.

Traffic light Controller for the Congested Urban Route using PLC & Ambulance Detection using RF Transmitter & Receiver with Lab VIEW
Traffic signals are the most convenient method of controlling traffic in a busy junction. Present traffic Signals fail to control the traffic effectively when a particular lane has got more traffic than the other lanes. In this paperan intelligent traffic control system using PLC is proposed.

System measures the traffic density on each road bycounting the number of vehicles and then takes the decision. Programming is done using ladder diagram. Seimens S7-1200 PLC is have been used for the system implementation.

Traffic management on the road has become a severe problem of today's society because of growth of the urbanization. This leads to traffic jam at the traffic junctions which in turn causes delay to ambulances. In order to overcome this problem, this paper presents a simple ambulance controlled traffic system.

The main objective of this system is that to control the traffic, allowing an ambulance to arrive at a particular location without it having to stop anywhere until the destination is reached. This system includes RF Transmitter & Receiver technology and Lab VIEW software.
