Tourism Industry amid Pandemics Comparative Assessment of Past Outbreaks and Covid 19

Tourism Industry amid Pandemics Comparative Assessment of Past Outbreaks and Covid 19
Covid 19 has reportedly shattered all previous records of outbreaks. Never a one expected the outbreak, which began in late December 2019, to spread quickly all across the globe, be devastating, and turn the global business upside down. SARS, Ebola Virus Disease EVD , MERS CoV, and other diseases brought about modest casualities in a smaller geographic area, therefore, Covid 19 was predicted to behave similarly at first. But this was not the case. Humans continuously lost their lives and faced financial hardships. Undoubtedly, tourism is amongst the most troubled industries. This research is a review of the literature. On the basis of facts and figures and prior studies, a comparison of the effects of prior outbreaks vis a vis Covid 19 on the tourism business has been attempted in this paper. Covid 19 and previous epidemics are so dissimilar, based on the facts and statistics gathered, that they cant be compared. Covid 19 has been the most hazardous viruses to live with owing to its instant spread, geographic distribution, several individuals who have died as a result of it, and the negative implications it has had across the region.

A Study on State Bank of India’s Doorstep Banking Service

December 16, 2020 0
A Study on State Bank of India’s Doorstep Banking Service

The government has imposed strict movement regulations amid the COVID 19 lockdown in the country. All bank account holders fail to withdraw their money and meet the banks directly. It has become tough to lead their life with minimum needs because of shortage of money, especially to senior citizens. In this context, the top banking institutions such as State Bank of India SBI , HDFC Bank, ICICI, AND Axis Bank will now give essential services to their bank account holders. They will provide Doorstep Banking facilities which includes cash delivery, cash withdrawals, cheque deposits, etc. As of now, the State Bank of India is a bigger arranger responsible for external commercial borrowings in the country and it’s one of the biggest providers of infrastructure debt. So SBI is performing a major role in providing reliable doorstep banking services to the customers.

Reflection of Regional Culture and Image in the Form of Culinary Tourism Rajasthan

December 15, 2020 0
Reflection of Regional Culture and Image in the Form of Culinary Tourism Rajasthan

Since time immemorial, food has been an integral part of any culture. Any gathering of people, will in one way or another involve food in some form. Culturally, sharing of food induces social bonding and, as humans are social by nature, food becomes an integral part of the society. This paper attempts to research and document the roots of this amalgamation of culinary tourism with culture and describe ways and means for showcasing and, hence, preserving the same. Since the topic is extremely wide in its scope, the focus of the case study has purposely been limited to the state of Rajasthan in India. Rajasthan, popularly known to many as the Land of the Kings, is a beautiful example of India’s age old opulence and grandeur, traces of which still linger in the air of this state. One of the most colourful and vibrant states in the country, with a strong blend of culture, history, music, cuisine and people wholeheartedly offering hospitality, it’s quite easy falling in love with Rajasthan. Rajasthan is the realm of erstwhile Maharajas and their lavish palaces and majestic forts. Rajasthan is steeped in a past brimming with honour, chivalry and heroism. Golden sand deserts, traditional handicrafts, rustic cuisine and awe inspiring palaces all contribute to making Rajasthan an ideal vacation spot. Rajasthan has an interesting history, stretching back to the time when the Rajputs ruled the state in the sixth century. Rajputs were known for their valour and bravery through which they protected the land from Islamic invasions for more than 500 years. This period saw many great leaders like Prithvi Raj Chauhan and Rana Pratap of Mewar. Under the Rajput rule, Mughals were able to get a firm grip over northern India. Due to internal conflicts in the Mughal Empire, they continued to weaken, and with their decline in the 18th century, the Rajputana came under the Marathas, who ruled Rajputana for most of the 18th century. Then, finally, the Maratha Empire was replaced by the British Empire in 1818. People of Rajasthan are as colourful as the state itself they are very fun loving, talkative, devoutly religious and friendly. Their gentle and generous nature will make you feel at home since they take special pride in entertaining their guests.

Over the decades, tourism has seen continuous growth and diversification to become one of the fastest growing economic sectors in the world. Sri Lanka has grown to one million tourists since the end of ethnic war, 2009. However, little attention is paid to religious and cultural purposes when visiting Sri Lanka by tourist. Therefore, the main problem for this study arises from this scenario. Sri Lanka is researching and trying to launch new products, including Buddhist tourism, for the Sri Lankan tourism industry to attract more tourists who will benefit to tourism development. Pilgrimage, spirituality, heritage sight seen and education purposes of Buddhist philosophy and culture are vital in Buddhist tourism in Sri Lanka. The main objectives of this study are a to identify the key contributory factors for Buddhist tourism development b to identify behavioral pattern of Buddhist tourist in Sri Lanka c to prospect and challengers to develop Buddhist tourism in Sri Lanka. This study used open and closed ended questions. The main source of information is a quantitative tool for in depth interviews with 80 tourism stakeholders who play different roles in the industry. The collected data has been analyzed with the help of mean score and ranking technique used in Phi coefficients test. The chi square test illustrates the relationship between theory and observation. The results of this study indicate that there is a great potential for the development of Buddhist tourism in Sri Lanka, Therefore, there are three main factors that contribute to the development of Buddhist tourism in Sri Lanka. Those are, Buddhist tourism marketing strategies, role of qualified human resource to cater Buddhist tourism and availability of excessive amount of Buddhist venues. And also, the based on analysis identified behavioral patterns of the Buddhist tourist in Sri Lanka.

Social Media in Tourism- A Double-Edged Sword

December 21, 2017 0
Social Media in Tourism- A Double-Edged Sword
Extensive spread of the Internet and speedy technological advancement have revolutionized all industries in the World specifically tourism. The presence of the information and communication technology have fundamentally change the way how tourists collect detailed information, how do they can carefully map decision substitutes, how they book their travel and how they share their unique travel experience with others.

A vital step forward in the progress of the internet has been made by a noteworthy growth in the popularity of social media platforms. Social media plays a very important role in tourism which is an information based industry. Consumers need information that can assist them in the process of travel planning and making decisions related to selection of tourism destination and other travel related products. Social media has also extended the reach of industry as now they can easily target consumers sitting far away without even meeting them.

Destination marketer use social media before the travel so as to engage and inform the tourists, during the travel so as to facilitate at destination and after the travel to remember and share experiences. But social media in tourism marketing can be both an aid and a threat as social media influences the tourism industry both in positive and negative ways, as the decisions of prospective travellers have been strongly affected by comments and personal experiences of other users on social media.

The main objective of the paper is to understand the relationship between social media and destination marketing and to examine the positive and negative impact of social media marketing in tourism industry.
