Predictive Analysis of Global Solar Radiation in Awka Using Statistical Error Indicators

Predictive Analysis of Global Solar Radiation in Awka Using Statistical Error Indicators

Information on the accessibility of solar radiation at a location is an imperative factor in choosing appropriate solar energy system and devices for several applications. Sunshine hours, rainfall, cloud cover, atmospheric pressure data measured in Awka 06.20°N, 07.00°E , Anambra state for a period of nine 2005– 2013 were used to create Angstrom type regression equations models for estimating the global solar radiation received on a horizontal surface in Awka. The results of the correlation were also tested for error using statistical test methods of the mean bias error, MBE, root mean square error, RMSE, and mean percentage error, MPE, to calculate the performance of the models. It was perceived that combination of parameters could be used to estimate the total solar radiation incident on a location.

Introduction to Nanotechnology and Its Applications in Forensic Investigation and Analysis

December 09, 2020 0
Introduction to Nanotechnology and Its Applications in Forensic Investigation and Analysis

Nanotechnology is the growing field of scientific research and technology. Nanotechnology has vast applications specially in the field of forensic science. It helps in diagnosing and examining samples at the nano scale level that was earlier difficult due to detection limits of instruments. Nanotechnology has already shown immense potential in many fields of research like medicine, molecular biology, genetics, material science and it also has a promising potential even in the fields of forensic science. This area of research has its own significant interest as the advances in the field of nanotechnology are being incorporated in the field of forensic science. For revealing the secrets of forensic science, nanotechnology is being used quite extensively. In forensic nanotechnology minute chip materials are used instead of bulky instruments which reduces the steps of methods of analysis to make investigation purpose accurate, precise and less time consuming.. An important advantage of using nanotechnology in the field of forensic science is that it reveals the hidden evidences, which can prove to be helpful for the forensic scientists to give an outcome to their investigation. This review aims to discuss role of nanotechnology in forensic analysis and detection of crime scene.

Design and Simulations of a Plasmonic Colour Filter Based on Metal Insulator Metal Resonators

Design and Simulations of a Plasmonic Colour Filter Based on Metal Insulator Metal Resonators

We report a method for filtering white light into individual colors using metal insulator metal resonators. The resonators are designed to support photonic modes at visible frequencies, and dispersion relations are developed for realistic experimental configurations. Experimental results indicate that passive Au Si3N4 Ag resonators exhibit color filtering across the entire visible spectrum. Devices were fabricated using silver bonding and layer transferred lithium niobate. Full field electromagnetic simulations were performed on active resonators for which the resonator length was varied from 1 3µm and the output slit depth was systematically varied throughout the thickness of the dielectric layer. These resonators are shown to filter colors based on interference between the optical modes within the dielectric layer. By careful design of the output coupling, the resonator can selectively couple to intensity maxima of different photonic modes and, as a result, preferentially select any of the primary colors. We also illustrate how refractive index modulation in metal insulator metal resonators can yield actively tunable color filters. Simulations using lithium niobate as the dielectric layer and the top and bottom Ag layers as electrodes indicate that the output color can be tuned over the visible spectrum with an applied field.

Preparation and Properties of Nanocrystalline Zinc Oxide Thin Films

June 20, 2020 0
Preparation and Properties of Nanocrystalline Zinc Oxide Thin Films
Metal oxide is highly important material which possesses many unique optical and electrical properties for applications in many areas such as Solar cells, Gas sensors and so on. With the development of research and applications of Metal oxide thin films, research results are verified that the morphology of Metal oxide thin films are plays an important role in applications of these films. Variety of morphologies, complex structure has been developed by physical or chemical methods. However the work on controlled growth of these films is still in developing state. Therefore in present work we deposited ZnS and ZnO metal oxides thin films on different substrates by Chemical Bath Deposition Technique. Structural, Surface Morphology and Optical properties of as deposited films were investigated by XRD, SEM, and UV VIS Spectrophotometer. The band gap is also calculated from the equation relating absorption co efficient to wavelength. The band gap indicates the film is transmitting within the visible range and the band gaps changes because of the grain size of the films. We also observed that, the change in preparative parameters affects the deposition rate of thin films. From the observation, it is clear that the growth rate increases as the deposition temperature, increases.
