Review on Green Supply Chain Management as a Strategic Approach for Better Corporate Performance

Development based on sustainability is the key to ensure a firm’s endurance and green supply chain management practices improves performance by considering environmental laws and standards, increasing customer awareness, and reducing adverse environmental effects through products and services. Strategies aligned with the green supply chain helps firms with creation of opportunities for better performance and meet the requirements of sustainability. This review paper aims to gain insights based on management of the green supply chain and its strategic effect on corporate performance through competitiveness. Based on the review, it is confirmed that a greener supply network has various benefits related to it and implementing green supply chain practices in sync with strategic planning can enhance corporate performance of firms in varied aspects. However, it also highlighted a research gap as there are limited studies showcasing the measured effect of greener supply network strategies and initiatives on corporate performance of a firm. Lastly, the paper contributes with avenues for further research with the possibilities of strategic approaches for a greener value chain to elucidate its impact quantitatively.

Factors Affecting Job Satisfaction and Productivity of Sewing Line Workers A Study on Selected Readymade Garment Industries in Myanmar

A basic requirement for job satisfaction among sewing line workers is a working environment that allows workers to perform their work at an optimal level in a comfortable environment. The working environment plays an essential role in workers job satisfaction and the impact of job satisfaction on productivity. A causal study was conducted to examine the impact of the working environment on job satisfaction and productivity of workers in the garment manufacturing industries. In this study, six factors of the work environment were considered for job satisfaction, which are, working conditions, remuneration, job security, psychosocial work environment, ergonomics and work participation. Data was collected from four readymade garment industries in Myanmar using random sampling. Multiple regression analysis and simple linear regression were used to predict the correlation. Based on the finding, this study showed that working conditions, remuneration and psychosocial work environment have strong casual effect on workers’ job satisfaction and job security and ergonomics are moderate and work participation is low casual effect on workers’ job satisfaction.

The Designing and Weighting of Key Performance Indicators using the SCOR Approach and AHP in XYZ Weaving Company

Competition between companies is becoming more intense, which is why each company must improve their performance. Supply Chain Management becomes an important part of a company in order to determine an efficient business strategy. One way is to measure supply chain performance. The first step that must be taken is to determine and weigh the Key Performance Indicator as a measurement of supply chain performance measurement in XYZ Weaving Company with the Supply Chain Operations Reference SCOR approach. The result of the study is that there are 23 KPIs with their respective weights on each level. The highest weight on Level 1 is on the Make process with a weight value of 0.357. The highest weight on level 2 is on the Reliability variable with a total weight of 0.424, while the highest weight on level 3 is on the Time needed to manufacture products with a total weight of 0.067.

Analysis of Different Controllers used for Boiler Drum Level Control by using LabVIEW Simulation

An intelligent model is developed to control the water level in boiler drum. There are three different types of boiler control such as i Single element boiler drum level control, ii Two element boiler drum level control and iii Three element boiler drum level control. This paper provides the k nowledge about the Fuzzy PID Controller and the various PID controller design methods such as Zeigler Nichols method, Tyreus Luyben method, Internal Model Control IMC . Comparative study is made on the performance of the PID and Fuzzy PID controller for better control system design.

Beneficial Usage of Autoclaved Aerated Concrete Block

August 21, 2018 0
Beneficial Usage of Autoclaved Aerated Concrete Block
This paper is about the study of beneficial usage of AAC block production in Mother Industrial Co., Ltd (AAC and APC block factory). Autoclaved Aerated Concrete is one of such green materials. It not only uses the waste material like fly ash but also provides adequate strength to structures. The main aim of this paper is to show the beneficial usage of AAC block instead of the use of conventional brick. For that, the beneficial usage of AAC block is showed on many ways. The beneficial usage of AAC block shows the cost saving calculation of AAC block. As the next way, the beneficial usage of AAC block shows the weight saving calculation of AAC block. Quality control chart (x bar and R chart) use to prove the benefit of AAC blocks in checking the production process. The other way is the compressive strength calculation between conventional brick and AAC block to show the benefit of AAC block. Finally, the power consumption cost saving calculation of AAC block compared with conventional brick is to show the benefit of AAC block.

Process Improvement Using Statistical Process Control in a Small Scale Industry

August 18, 2018 0
Process Improvement Using Statistical Process Control in a Small Scale Industry
Different methods are used in an organization to improve productivity, one such method is Statistical process Control(SPC).Statistical process control is a collection of tools, that when used together can result in process stability and variance reduction, thereby leading to a more streamlined production process. This paper presents a case study of SPC to improve the performance of current process by reducing the variability in the dimension of parts produced, there by diminish rejections and improving the process.

By carrying out mathematical calculations and using various SPC tools, process capability study was done under existing conditions, some improvements were done in the existing welding fixture used for producing the part to improve their capabilitiy indices. In this study after the application of SPC tools and integrating the suggested changes in existing process, great improvements were seen, as such the capability indices which were 0.1.1&0.38 respectively for the existing process, increased to 1.91&1.50 respectively for the improved process, thereby representing good process performance with higher strength.
