A Review on the Sedimentation Problem in River Basins

November 12, 2020 0
A Review on the Sedimentation Problem in River Basins

River sedimentation is a global concern evidenced by a number of studies conducted. Now, that climate change is being experienced the rapid changes on the river landscape is manifestly observed. As unveiled, natural evolution of landscape and human activities are the two main factors affecting this phenomenon. Different methods of determination of the volume of sediments transported some are employed. Some studies used classic methods utilizing sophisticated apparatus while others artificial intelligence mode of sediment transport prediction.

Polychaetes of Palk Bay, South East Coast of India

Palk Bay is an important area for the study of Polychaetes. Already about 16 publications are available on the Polychaetes of Palk Bay. In order to find out the present position a comparative study was made by collecting Polychaete samples from 17 centres having different environmental situations. Out of 41 Polychaetes identified, 16 were found to be new to the study area.

Performance Evaluation of a Sewage Treatment Plant STP A Critical Review

Performance Evaluation of a Sewage Treatment Plant STP A Critical Review

Increase in population and urbanization has lead to water depletion and deterioration in water quality. Construction of Sewage Treatment Plants STP based on latest technologies in different parts of the country is necessary to reduce the problem of water pollution. The purpose of STP is to reduce the excessive contaminants from sewage and make the sewage reusable. Sewage treatment helps to reduce the pollution level of the water bodies and reduce the use of water by ensuring that treated water is used for irrigation and flushing toilets. Thus, the efficient working of the STP is utmost important. Anaerobic and aerobic biological processes are commonly used for wastewater treatment. The efficiency of individual units of STP determines the overall performance of the plant and quality of the final treated effluent in accordance with the prescribed governmental standards. This paper presents a critical review on the treatment of sewage by aerobic process and specifically by Activated Sludge Process ASP and its modifications. From the present paper it can be concluded that Sequencing Batch Reactor SBR technology is good in treating sewage.

Photocatalytic Degradation of Ciprofloxacin using TiO2 in a Slurry Photocatalytic Reactor Optimization

March 20, 2020 0
Photocatalytic Degradation of Ciprofloxacin using TiO2 in a Slurry Photocatalytic Reactor Optimization
A slurry photocatalytic reactor assessed for the degradation of ciprofloxacin CFX . The effect of operating parameters like initial ciprofloxacin concentration, catalyst dosage and pH on ciprofloxacin degradation was analysed in this study. Batch study was conducted and it showed 90 degradation of the CFX. It was observed the optimum concentration of CFX was 1500 µg l, catalyst dosage was 1 g l at the pH of 9 for the duration of 3 hours. The photocatalytic degradation of CFX followed the pseudo first order kinetics.

Application of High Voltage Engineering for Air Pollution Control ESP

Application of High Voltage Engineering for Air Pollution Control ESP

The fastest growing Industrialization in today’s world of has resulted into degradation of environmental in terms of air pollution. It is not possible physically to achieve a 100 per cent pollution free environment with industries operating. Considering the hazardous effects due to air pollution it is important to make sure that, the least pollution caused by industrial units. To achieve this effective and adequate pollution control techniques are required to implement, so that effects on the environment are minimized. The electrostatic precipitator is one of the major applications of high voltage engineering for air pollution control. It became one of the key control in get rid of harmful particulates coming out and mixing in environment from different industries. Already various research and invetstments in the area of Electro Static Precipitator is growing by looking at the key benefits resulting through the use of it. As numerous projects are in working even at this very moment all over the world, this paper a comprehensive review is attempted to focus on elements of ESP.

Analytical Approach to Recycle the Vegetable and Fruit Waste into Feed

May 21, 2019 0
Analytical Approach to Recycle the Vegetable and Fruit Waste into Feed
The worlds population is projected to grow from about 7.7 billion in 2019 to 9.6 billion people by 2050. More than half of this growth is expected in Sub Saharan Africa SSA China and India. In addition to population growth, per capita meat and milk consumption is also growing, especially in China and India. As the cities are urbanizing and population is migrating in search of better living standards there is double impulse for food in these magnets of growth. In food the demand of fruits and vegetables as well as dairy and meat products is increased gradually in last decade which correspondingly lead to the demand of feed for animals. In this research paper we are presenting a mechanism to convert the vegetable and fruit waste into animal feed by designed feed making machine and its impact on environment in terms of fewer quanta discarded to dumping yard and less production of methane emission due to fruit and vegetable waste. And the scope of recycling the waste will be assessed on pigsty in Pune.

Analytical Study of Washing Machine Effluent for Households of Residential Building in Nasik Region

Water plays a significant role in the human and animal life it is one of the prominent components of environment without which life is not possible in this earth but persistent glitches of today are water scarcity. In the last few decades, limitless urbanization has caused a serious pollution problem due to the disposal of sewage to the water bodies. The present study focused on the physico chemical parameters of wastewater of washing machine for the households of residential building in Nasik. Examination have been be performed on effluent on its physical appearance such as pH, turbidity, TDS, while chemical tests should be perform for its COD, BOD, Oil and Grease, Conductivity, Total Hardness, Calcium, Magnesium, dissolved oxygen, alkalinity, Sulphate, Iron, Lead, Zinc, DO and Nitrate. The analysis shows the parameters have exceed the permissible limit of recycle reuse of water in pH, COD, BOD, Turbidity, TDS, Total Hardness, DO so there is a need for an appropriate treatment system to reuse the washing machine effluent in the case study area.
